It shares an all-new platform with the purely petrol Outlander version. litre combustion petrol engine allied with twin electric motors, a 20kWh lithium-ion battery pack and all-wheel-drive. For a plug-in hybrid it is, but those prices are some $15,000 more than the equivalent Outlander petrol versions. Is it good value?

With two Electric cars, at the time a Nissan Lean and Mitsubishi Outlander, we use a considerable amount of electricity but not much petrol, so already we were a reasonable way down the less CO2 road. Your power comes from the grid as 240 Volts AC. On a sunny day the rate of battery usage slows and extend the off grid hours. .

Exclusion of conventional segments The PLI scheme excludes conventional petrol, diesel, and CNG segments (internal combustion engines) from its scope, as these segments are deemed to have sufficient manufacturing capacities in India. It’s an unbranded system designed in-house by Tesla, but it’s a quality bit of audio kit. Charged from home using grid electricity, it’ll cost something like $6 to cover 100km. But it loses points for its lack of gear in its base guise and the compromises of starting with a platform that was designed for petrol.
