The company will start with an allocation of production that is distributed between itself and several Tier One sub-contractors in order to expedite the manufacturing ramp rate and delivery of motors to early customers. Linear Labs is expecting to manufacture and deliver at least 100,000 M200 motors by the end of 2021.

Test Drive to Work

Shifting was a real pain on city streets since the electric motor changes RPM very quickly during acceleration or regeneration. After analyzing the AC controller logs, it turns out that I only took the motor up to 3000 RPM and it is spec'ed at 12000, so maybe I'll try a lower gear next time to get more torque at the wheels.

He graciously faxed me a circuit to generate a tach pulse from an ADC8" or 9" motor, but he didn't really understand the circuit. Unfortunately, the circuit relies on the fan inside the motor interrupting an optical emitter-receiver pair which doesn't exist on the AC24 motor in my vehicle.

He got one of the earlier DC motor kits for the 914 from Electro Automotive. Besides, the PowerCheq units only handle 12 volt batteries and the ElectroAuto kit is designed for 8-volt golf-cart batteries, so a homebrew system will be required. It looks like this is going to take some patience.

I went back to Parkrose hardware today to pick up stainless steel bolts to attach the motor cables to the controller. This switch prevents the motor controller from engaging when the accelerator pedal is pressed. On a more dangerous note, I ordered my 18 USBatt 8-v golf-cart batteries from American Battery company in California.

Closing up more loose ends.

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. The three-phase AC cable from the motor was too short to actually pass through the 2-inch hole I drilled as suggested in the directions (barely shown at the bottom edge of the above picture).

Don't let those batteries just sit around

Here is the starter block-off plate to cover the hole left from the removed starter motor. The 8-volt golf cart batteries arrived over 24 days ago and have just been sitting on the garage floor, discharging. This is inside the driver-side fuel compartment looking forward.
