In addition to the Roadster, a whole host of little electric cars will be exhibited at the fair alongside an array of electric scooter and quadricycles: Mega eCity, Mega Multitruck, E-Z-GO RXV (golf cart), Sanifer L7e, Sanifer L6e, Toyota Prius (Plug-in and Flexible-fuel technology models) and ZEV Seven.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Current batteries in new Toyota hybridsare ~$3000 if they need to be replaced. None of the new electric cars are planning to use old-tech lead acid batteries.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. you see that?
