In Germany, all Mercedes-Benz plants will be supplied with CO 2 -neutral energy. From 2022, the production of our Mercedes-Benz plants in Germany will operate CO 2 -neutral. Today, new plants in Europe are already planned with a CO2-neutral energy supply from the start. The decision also fits with our overall strategy.

Hydrogen is seen as playing a major role in establishing a CO 2 -free energy supply. If hydrogen is collected from renewable sources such as wind and solar power, there are no climate-damaging emissions. Germany has a 511,000-kilometer gas grid and 33 gas storage locations.

The UK has been a leader in deploying on and offshore wind turbines. Solar also generates a good share of the power generated when the sun shines. What we have not done so well is to ensure that we have a solid base level of generation to supply electricity when there is no sun and no wind. No Storage. Nuclear 15%.
