The vehicles and infrastructure being funded include the use of natural and renewable gas, propane, ethanol, biodiesel, electricity, and hybrid technologies. The program includes the installation of 10 alternative fuel refueling sites (two B20, one Electric Recharging, and seven CNG). Total DOE award: $15,000,000.

The award recipients are: Clean World Partners, LLC , will receive $6 million to increase the Sacramento BioRefinery’s capacity from 25 tons to 100 tons a day. This will divert 100 tons per day of food waste from landfills and use that to produce enough renewable natural gas to replace 566,000 gallons of diesel fuel and generate 3.17

The California Energy Commission (CEC) approved $5,580,773 for clean-energy transportation projects including biodiesel production, power control electronics for medium-and heavy-duty battery electric vehicles, and buydowns for propane vehicles. The facility is slated to produce nearly 5 million gallons of transportation fuel per year.

It’s a daunting task made ever more difficult by the ambitious goal of those action plans - reducing our region’s greenhouse gas emissions 7% below what they were in 1990 - in just the next four years, by 2012. While it’s sad but true that the entire gang in Sacramento can no longer figure out how to make California work, President Obama and his “Yes I Can&# team do know what they’re doing. Here at my home we’ve cut our electrical bill more than in half. Imagine that. Why would we want to take on such a huge job?
