Total combined Toyota and Lexus hybrid vehicle sales in the US have topped the one million mark, according to Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA. Two months later Toyota launched the Highlander Hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV). July 2007 saw the arrival of the second-generation 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV.

In the USA, a total of 384,168 CR-Vs were sold in 2019 alone (wheelsjoint.com). In the SUV market, it ranks second only to the Toyota RAV4. Launched in Japan in 1995, the CR-V became one of the pioneer models of what has become the highly popular Compact SUV segment. Fuel Economy is excellent.

For years, the RAV4 2-row crossover has been a top-selling model each month in the USA. In 2019, the RAV4 wasn’t just the world’s best-selling SUV; it was also the 4th best-selling passenger car overall, selling 535,000 units in North America alone. Toyota’s ground-breaking SUV reached a 10M global sales landmark in February of 2020.

However, in the USA critics are taking shots at the proposals before they are even implemented. By contrast it states, the Congress scheme is weaker - you can simply buy a new SUV with only slightly better gas mileage and qualify for a $3,500 boost.

Most recently, Toyota announced that its fuel cell sedan would also be available in the UK, USA, Germany and Denmark during the summer of 2015. So much so, Hyundai has announced it is leasing its hydrogen SUV for $499 a month, with fuel thrown in for free. It’s time to debunk a number of myths.

Yes, they make and sell a ton of SUVs, but when you think of Mercedes, the company wants you to visualize an S-Class sedan. Every electric model introduced (the EQS is the first shot, but will be followed next year by the EQB SUV and the EQE) will initially sell alongside its ICE doppelganger.
