The majority of non-luxury brands—including Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Kia, Mazda, and Subaru—all saw ATP declines between 0.3% month over month in January.

While it’s not as legendary of a nameplate as other icons of motoring, the Pathfinder was once a rugged body-on-frame SUV that could go just about anywhere, it’s now a minivan without the utility of a minivan. Ranking (and rankling) in this vein was any Mazda with that brand’s infuriating infotainment. All are 2023s or 2024s.

The report found that fuel economy for the US fleet continues to improve. ft 2 (2.4%); cars increased 1 ft 2 (2.1%); minivans/vans increased 1.0 Since MY 2008, market share has shifted towards car SUVs and truck SUVs, and away from cars, pickups, and minivans/vans. Model year (MY) 2016 vehicle fuel economy was 24.7 ft 2 (-0.4%).

Light trucks (pickups, minivans/vans, and truck SUVs), accounted for 36% of all light-duty vehicle production in MY 2012, the second lowest level since 1993. There are 15 MY 2013 pickup and minivan/van models for which at least one variant of the model has a combined city/highway label fuel economy rating of 20 mpg (11.8 mpg, or 22%.

Asian brands, led by Lexus, Toyota, and Mazda, in that order, continue to be the best for new car reliability in CR’s survey, which is the largest of its kind. While the Chrysler 300 improves to “Average,” the Pacifica minivan falls to “Below-Average.” Chrysler drops seven spots to number 24. Ram was the worst-charting FCA brand at 26.

The Trends report has been published annually since 1975 and covers all passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, minivans, and all but the largest pickup trucks and vans. In MY 2013, Mazda had the lowest fleet-wide adjusted composite CO 2 emissions and highest adjusted fuel economy performance, followed by Honda and Subaru.
