Maximum range is 70 miles (112 km), with a top speed of 40 mph (64 km/h). Recharging takes 8-10 hours.

The smart ed has no gear change and can reach 30 mph in 6.5 It has an electronically limited top speed of 60 mph. This means you can plug it directly into any UK mains 3 pin plug socket and it will happily recharge. A UK market trial of 100 cars started in December 2007 with fleet customers.

UK soft drinks retailer AG Barr is using a Smith Newton electric truck for delivery to retail outlets across London.
