Santa Ana, California-based California Yellow Cab has ordered 25 units of the compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane (LPG) engine prep package for the Ford Transit Connect Taxi. The engine prep package enables conversion of the Transit Connect to CNG or LPG. California Yellow Cab began using natural gas in 2002.

Nat G CNG Solutions, a Houston-based company specializing in compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle upgrades, has been selected as a Ford Motor Company Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM). Ford instituted the QVM Program to improve quality assurance for Ford vehicle modifications, including natural gas vehicle upgrades.

Taxi Medallion Management in Chicago has purchased 12 Ford Transit Connect Taxis running on compressed natural gas (CNG) for its fleet. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), CNG is less expensive and burns cleaner than gasoline, resulting in 30 to 40% less greenhouse gas emissions.
