Veolia launches largest project to produce bio-methanol from pulp mill waste

Black liquor is the waste byproduct from the kraft pulping process after pulping is completed. Since then, Veolia has more than 450 installations worldwide for mills in Brazil, Indonesia, China, Japan, Australia, South Africa and several European countries. Metsä Fibre is a leading producer of bioproducts, biochemicals and bioenergy.

Neste to receive €88M from EU toward green hydrogen and carbon capture & storage at Porvoo; SHARC

The EU Innovation Fund will award a grant of €88 million to Neste’s green hydrogen and CO 2 capture & storage project, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at the Porvoo refinery in Finland. The novel water electrolysis technology applied by SHARC has a capacity of 50 MW. The project is currently in the feasibility phase.

Ricardo investigating potential for its split-cycle engine in large engine market

In a poster-session paper presented at CIMAC Congress 2016 in Finland, Ricardo described the use of this split-cycle concept in high- and medium-speed engines for power generation to achieve efficiencies of 60% from units of 1–30 MW mechanical output.
