And then, with transmission complete and the triggering stimulus gone, the system would shut down and return to a sleep or fully powered-off state. The sensor equivalent of a sleeping dog is called an event-driven sensor. Once the stimulus is removed, the metal finger reverts to its original shape and the switch opens.
