2024 Fiat 500e EV. Fiat stopped selling the Cinquecento, or 500e, in the United States (in reality California and Oregon only) in 2019. We reviewed the last year of this small but fun EV, noting its limitations, not the least of which was an 84-mile driving range. Genesis X EV. 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV.

We’ll try to keep this up-to-date as the EV market continues to evolve. Plug-ins are trending in key markets around the country, although much of the action remains focused in California and other West Coast states. The Model S is the best-selling plug-in car in the U.S. Tesla Model 3 80,681. Chevrolet Bolt 22,799.

In 2019, the RAV4 wasn’t just the world’s best-selling SUV; it was also the 4th best-selling passenger car overall, selling 535,000 units in North America alone. Toyota’s ground-breaking SUV reached a 10M global sales landmark in February of 2020.

Toyota long ago made a commitment to hybrids, with the Prius being the most successful result of the company’s commitment to combining electricity and gasoline. US sales of electric vehicles are expected to increase significantly this decade, however, by the end of 2030 EVs will still comprise only a tiny percentage of vehicles in operation (VIO) and the number of internal combustion engine vehicles (ICE) will actually increase by 20 million.
