The US Environmental Agency (EPA) has granted California’s waiver request enabling the state to enforce its greenhouse gas emissions standards (Pavley I) for new motor vehicles, beginning with the current model year. California requested from EPA the waiver required for implementation of the Pavley regulations in December 2005.

Working together, the EPA LDV emission and CAFE standards reduce demand for fossil fuels, save drivers money, and provide greater fuel security. New Mexico adopted the Advanced Clean Cars II standard (ACC II). Finally, we are eager to see the finalized EPA LDV standards and NHTSA CAFE standards.

Fuel economy is rated at 28 mpg city/36 highway/31 combined for the FWD Taos, with the AWD model returning 25/32/28. The 2022 Taos is roomy, has a quiet ride, plenty of power, and mid-thirties fuel economy. Michael: There’s no irony that the Taos is now taking up space at the Jetta production plant in Mexico.
