Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Ian Bowles has set the statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions limit for 2020 required by the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008 at 25% below 1990 levels, the maximum authorized by the Act, saying that measures already in place will get Massachusetts much of the way toward that goal.

The Superchargers in the state would soon benefit not just Teslas, considering the adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) by other automakers.

The US Environmental Protection Agency has submitted a proposed endangerment finding on greenhouse gas emissions to the White House. The document does not propose any requirements on any sources of greenhouse-gas emissions. In April 2007, the Supreme Court concluded in Massachusetts v. The Committee began an investigation.
