DOE ROD for coal-based Texas Clean Energy Project sets in motion $450M of federal funding

The plant will produce power by converting sub-bituminous coal into hydrogen-rich synthesis gas (syngas) and CO 2. The syngas and high-quality steam will be fed to the combined-cycle combustion and steam turbine generator to produce electricity. About 200 megawatts of electricity will be put on the power grid.
