The UK Department of Transport has awarded £24 million (US$37.5 Jaguar Land Rover (lead company), Ford Motor Company, IAV (UK), CPT, BP, University of Nottingham, Imperial College London. A prototype Land Rover vehicle will demonstrate the benefits of the suppliers’ technology on CO 2 emissions.

In 240 miles driving around Southern California we averaged 23 mpg, but in a 100-mile run with the adaptive cruise control set at 65 mph, we averaged 31.2 This fuel economy is encouraging, but it will take a wide open road with little traffic and lots of patience to equal it. Zero-to-60 mph times were right around 5.0
