The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted a testing exemption to Renergie, Inc. To be used as a supplementary blend in low levels with gasoline, this hydrous ethanol needs to be dehydrated, resulting in anhydrous ethanol. In the US, the primary method for blending ethanol into gasoline is splash blending.

The direction for the US was underscored by the unveiling of the XC60 gasoline-electric Plug-in Hybrid Concept at the show. The front wheels of the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid Concept are powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine from the forthcoming VEA family which produces 280 hp (209 kW) and maximum torque of 380 N·m (280 lb-ft).

That will tell you how much energy your vehicle needs to travel 100 miles, a more accurate measurement than our traditional fuel economy (mpg) numbers. Still a bit of a mystery.

USA Today ) 10/25/06 DaimlerChrysler is downright reluctant, even though it has built four test models, commercial-size vans that run on gasoline and electricity. Hybrid Sonata model year 2011, possible PHEV version in 2013. No announced plans. We hope Ford will, and then move ahead!
