Total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union (EU) increased by 0.7% Less coal was used to produce heat and electricity but this was offset by higher industrial and transport emissions, the latter increasing for the fourth consecutive year. From 1990 to 2017, the EU reduced its net greenhouse gas emissions by 21.7%.

The increased pressure to further focus on vehicle emissions and fuel efficiency performance has driven the US and other countries to evaluate the adequacy of their fuel and vehicle standards. This also marks the first case of provision of electric vehicles under the Green Investment Scheme (GIS) established pursuant to Article 17 of the Kyoto Protocol, whose proceeds are to be used for environmental measures including greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. The 507 units will be shipped to Estonia by end of fiscal 2011.
