The BYD e6 electric vehicle ( earlier post ) will now be available for consumer purchases in China; previously, the e6 was only available for fleet purchases. This is the first domestic all-electric vehicle for sale to consumers in China. million fleet miles (or 6 million km).

BYD Company Ltd (BYD) and Rotterdam City entered into an agreement to deliver BYD’s all-electric e6 vehicles as part of the Netherlands’ green transportation project “75-EV-RO”; these will be the first BYD e6s in Europe. Netherlands Prince Maurits van Oranje test drives the BYD all-electric e6 in Rotterdam.

BMW’s Mini is rolling out its electric car in three phases. In 2008 the company released a test fleet of 450 Mini-E vehicles and is getting ready to announce its second phase. Still, Chinese auto-makers hesitate to mass-market their electric models domestically. The third phase will be released around 2015.
