Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motor Company will expanding their alternative fuel line-up by offering the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy duty natural gas engine ( earlier post ) for use in regional haul, vocational and refuse markets. Peterbilt uses the ISL G and Westport GX engine. Next-generation Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

Although the prototype currently runs on diesel, its turbine is fuel-neutral and can run on compressed or liquid natural gas, biofuels or other fuels. Peterbilt and Navistar also have electric semis either planned or ready to be delivered. Commercial EV drivers shouldn’t aim for a 100% charge to avoid degrading the battery and requiring electrical maintenance. The Tesla Semi should reach 500 miles on one charge and cost half the amount of fueling a diesel truck.
