It’s designed to go about 40 miles in all-electric mode after which a small gas powered engine kicks in and powers a generator which then re-charges the batteries. The H3E can go about 400 miles before needing to refuel. The Raser plug-in Hummer SUV was introduced at the SAE World Congress in Detroit, Michigan in April.

Chevrolet unveiled the second-generation Volt extended range EV at the North American International Auto Show. GM estimates fuel economy to be 41 mpg combined (MY 2015 = 37 mpg) with 102 mpge (MY 2015 = 98 mpge). Currently, drivers of the first-generation Volt are averaging more than 900 miles between fill-ups.

Opel will debut the new Astra at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show; the company will also showcase the Ampera, Opel’s implementation of the Voltec extended range electric vehicle architecture. L/100 km (48 mpg US) on average and emits no more than 129 g/km CO 2. L/100 km (56 mpg US) will be added to the range in spring 2010.
