Audi’s e-tron quattro battery-electric SUV concept, which made its formal debut at IAA in Frankfurt ( earlier post ), is a strong indicator of Audi’s series-production electric SUV due in 2018—especially in terms of the powertrain. Hyundai has begun the US sales rollout of its Ioniq line of electrified vehicles, which come in hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric variants. The Ioniq Hybrid boasts the highest fuel economy in the US (up to 58 mpg) for a non-plug-in vehicle and the Ioniq Electric is the industry’s most efficient EV (136 mpge). Earlier post.)

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Wired Home Subscribe Sections Cars 2.0 But it is a price that must be paid, and GM should be commended for remaining committed to the Volt. Thats short-sighted.
