These swap stations remain to be seen as a novelty in Europe for the time being but will serve as a complementary public charging solution alongside plug-in infrastructure. This is a unique feature of battery swapping stations that could be exploited in the future to make them act as grid-support units.

IDTechEx forecasts that most of the new DC charging installations will be in the 100+ kW power classes. Public DC charging installations will go through a power class shift in the coming decade. As soon as you plug in, power jumps to the maximum acceptable charging rate of the EV if the battery has been pre-conditioned.
