The PSC is an electricity storage unit and consists of 96 cell modules with a net capacity of 570 kWh. All cell modules in the PSC were formerly installed as batteries in pre-production models of the ID.3 The electricity comes from the adjacent photovoltaic installation, among other sources.

Researchers at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in late February demonstrated a 20-kilowatt bi-directional wireless charging system installed on a UPS medium-duty, plug-in hybrid electric delivery truck. The technology takes energy from the grid and converts it to direct current (DC) voltage.

The Aurora product employs Eos’s patented Znyth battery technology that uses a safe aqueous electrolyte and a novel zinc-hybrid cathode to enable extremely low-cost electricity storage and long life.
