New York City to Toledo? Not much can knock around the Pacifica, including wind gusts and passing big rigs, all of which had a minimal effect on the stability and sure-footed feel. Our road tests are based on this one-week drive of a new vehicle. Charlotte to Orlando? Yep, all on one tank and a charged battery.

There are already spaces in New York City and Los Angeles, and there are now two in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I’m located. These should diminish as more and more of the grid uses power from renewable sources, such as solar and wind, and as the manufacturers themselves use green energy—some, including GM, already do.
