At these prices, people are buying the "environmental feature" -- they want to be among the first owners of the worlds cleanest extended-range vehicles. Conversions are limited to certain vehicle types.

In addition, the inevitable escaped natural gas contributes more severely to warming the planet. While this may be a problem for a blind pedestrian who cannot hear an approaching car, truck or bus, it is a welcome convenience for deaf passengers who normally have difficulty participating in conversation.
