The electric supercharger technology developed by CPT is not driven by conventional electric motors, but by switched reluctance machines controlled with high precision using advanced electronics and software.

The European Advanced Lead-Acid Battery Consortium (EALABC) is delivering a paper this week outlining the consortium’s approach to 48V hybridization at the 2 nd International Conference on Advanced Automotive 48V Power Supply Systems in Düsseldorf. The Valeo electric supercharger was developed in the UK by Controlled Power Technologies.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.
