Honda’s current state-of-the-art vehicle is the Clarity Fuel Cell, currently available in Japan, and to be available in the US and Europe by the end of the year. The only way to solve this chicken-and-the-egg problem was to create our own hydrogen for FCV use, which was realized by joint-development with Iwatani Corporation.

The survey found that most companies are hedging their bets and spreading funding across a wide range of areas, with ICE downsizing and plug-in hybrids expected to receive the greatest investment over the next 5 years. Japan: 46% believe the share will be 11–15%.
