General Motors expects its Spring Hill Manufacturing plant will be powered by 100% solar energy beginning in late 2022. The energy will be supplied by a solar farm in Lowndes County, Mississippi, currently under development by Origis Energy. Spring Hill Manufacturing is the largest GM facility in North America, totaling 2,100 acres.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Justice Department (DOJ) announced that Mississippi-based PowerTrain, Inc. will pay a civil penalty of $2 million to resolve claims that the company imported and sold nearly 80,000 nonroad engines and equipment from China that did not meet standards under the Clean Air Act.
