By teaming up with the four partner companies, more than 50% of the 400 sites planned between now and the year 2020 have already been covered. The installation of HPC charging stations directly on the major thoroughfares will make electromobility significantly more convenient and the charging capacity of up to 350 kW is expected to reduce the waiting time for customers to a minimum.

Hydrogenics to supply 1MW electrolyzer to project converting CO2 to methanol; Power-to-Gas

Hydrogenics Corporation will supply a 1MW electrolyzer and provide engineering expertise to a consortium of companies working on the European project MefCO2 (methanol fuel from CO 2 ) in Germany. Installations of up to 200 MW can be implemented relatively rapidly and efficiently operated. This kind of large-scale installation would produce up to 180,000 tons of methanol a year and thus stop emissions of up to 260,000 tons of CO 2.

The world’s first commercial application of the LNG In A Box system will be for LNG fueling stations in Europe to be delivered by Luxembourg-based LNG firm Gasfin through its operating company AIR-LNG, GE announced at the 17 th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG-17) in Houston. Gasfin signed a memorandum of understanding with GE to install five LNG In A Box units serving “clusters” of LNG fueling stations.

Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler partnership solid and expanding; 12 projects on three continents

The collaboration between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler AG is not only stable and on-track, but expanding, the companies’ CEOs said in their annual media update at the Paris Motor Show. The smart fortwo is being built at smart’s Hambach plant in France, while the Twingo and the smart forfour are being produced at Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. Meanwhile, the two companies continue to supply each other with powertrains.

Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler expand cooperation with new $1.4B plant in Mexico; next-gen compacts for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti

Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche announced today that their companies have agreed to establish a 50:50 joint venture, the business entity that will oversee construction and operation of the new plant in Aguascalientes in north-central Mexico. The companies will add almost 5,700 jobs (including engineering, line workers and support staff) by the time the plant reaches full capacity, expected in 2021.

Nissan to produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cylinder gasoline engines in North America; latest step in collaboration

Production will begin in 2014, with installed capacity of 250,000 units per year once full ramp–up is achieved. Two-seater smart vehicles will be produced at Daimler’s plant in Hambach, France, and four-seater smart and Renault production are slated for Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. In addition to the announcement this week about North American engine production, the companies had decided earlier to partner on: Platform sharing.
