A green car event will take place at the Millbrook Proving Ground featuring vehicles from BMW, Chevrolet, Citroen, Ford, Honda, Kia, Mini, Peugeot, Toyota and Vauxhall. The event has been designed to provide company car fleet managers with the chance to test drive the latest environmentally friendly vehicles.

Demand is so high for green cars after government incentives were introduced in Japan, that the Honda Motor Company, the country’s number two car manufacturer, has said it will start partial weekend shifts at two factories in a bid to push low emission vehicles off the production line.

Television presenter and Camden resident Gail Porter will open Camden Council’s special Green Motor Show where residents and businesses can discover a whole range of eco-friendly vehicles. The Camden Council Green Motor Exposition (GME) will take place at Triton Square Plaza from 10am to 4pm on Thursday 24 September.

Following on from yesterday’s news about losses and falls in profit for Mitsubishi, Daihatsu and Hino Motors , Honda has now announced a significant loss of more than £1billion for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2008-2009. per cent - the company suffered its first year-on-year drop in sales in nine years.

Green cars continue to be as badly hit as any during the on-going recession as sales of hybrid cars showed another dramatic year-on-year slump in April. Combined reported US hybrid sales from Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan and Toyota fell by 45.5 per cent, representing just a 2.7 per cent compared to April 2008.
