And just like Woody, I’d like to sing you a song about a better way… My friends, with greenhouse gas emissions already in the danger zone, we needed to stop burning Killer Coal yesterday. Perhaps one of my many readers who work for the City of Torrance or the County of Los Angeles wants to pick that torch up and run with it.

The vision is fuelled by the fear of climate change and the need to find green alternatives to dirty coal, unpopular nuclear power and unreliable gas imports from Russia. Are we going to burn more oil, natural gas, or (gasp) coal to produce it? The only question is a carbon TAX the kind of change Obama believes in.

You can go to events where you recycle your old paper tax records, your motor oil, your cellphone, computers and other electronics. . You can participate in beach cleanups, ride your bicycle with large groups in parades or march in protests against coal-fired power plants, polluters and planet-pummeling profiteers.

The high cost of manufacturing the Volt is exactly why the tax credits of $2500 for a vehicle with 4 kWh of battery capacity and $417 for every kWh over 4 (so that there is a $7500 credit for the Volt) were legislated.
