The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) announced the adoption of the Advanced Clean Truck and Fleet Reporting rules. The adoption of these rules establishes New Jersey as one of the first states to require phasing in of clean electric commercial trucks to replace diesel-powered trucks.

Both houses of the New Jersey Legislature (Senate and Assembly) have passed a bill ( S2252 /A4819) that establishes goals and incentives for increased use of plug-in electric vehicles in NJ. By the end of 2040, at least 85% of all new light duty vehicles sold or leased in the State are to be plug-in electric vehicles.

DEC considers PEJAs to be communities of color or low-income communities that experience a disproportionate share of environmental harms such as vehicle emissions and pollution. These new all-electric transit buses will be required to be housed at bus depots or operate on routes located within Environmental Justice communities.

Under the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP) program, $16.4 Under this program, purchasers of new all-electric transit buses are eligible to have 100% of the incremental vehicle cost covered on the condition that these buses are housed at bus depots or operate on routes located within a half-mile of a disadvantaged community.
