When sales of the Civic Hybrid started to flag, Honda introduced the Insight Hybrid earlier this year. However, arguably Honda’s most innovative vehicle to date is the FCX Clarity, the world’s first dedicated platform hydrogen vehicle. Despite focusing on clean-diesel technologies, VW has not been immune to alternative fuels.

An (expected) high price tag. But where does Hydrogen come from? That means either 3x more coal burning for that electricity, or 3x more of our limited supply of clean renewable energy diverted to transportation, leaving less renewable energy to displace fossil fuel usage elsewhere. Small size. New technology.
