The two-year pilot project sets up a voucher program for buying or leasing clean vehicles, electric bicycles, scooters and other equipment, and by funding the infrastructure—charging stations, bike and scooter racks, for example—needed for these projects. The $17 million funds the program for two years.

However, widespread commercial use of electric drive on long-haul and heavy-duty routes is not yet feasible. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) are considered alternative fuels. We also need to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to clean alternative energy sources.
