The fuel cell control unit governs the fuel cell system as well as communicates with the vehicle. Methanol reforming is a relatively simple process that converts a mix of methanol and water into a hydrogen-rich gas. The methanol fuel cell system is based on High-Temperature PEM technology and methanol to hydrogen reforming.

The EcoDual technology enables existing diesel engines to be converted to operate on up to 85% natural gas, providing fuel cost savings and emission reductions. The cost of the dual fuel system can be recovered in operational savings within one year without any government incentives, the company says.

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education.
