BMW Group to build future MINI E vehicles in China with Great Wall Motor

The BMW Group and Great Wall Motor have launched a new joint venture—Spotlight Automotive Limited—and are building a joint plant in China, where the BMW Group will produce future fully-electric models of its MINI brand. Both partners will together invest around €650 million (more than five billion CNY).

BMW Group and its Chinese joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. The plug-in was developed exclusively for the Chinese automobile market and produced at the Shenyang site. The parallel hybrid system consists of a 160 kW (215 hp) BMW TwinPower Turbo engine and an electrical motor with a maximum output of 70 kW.
