The expansion by BYD in Australia from pure electric vehicles into CO2-emitting internal combustion engined plug-ins led by the Sealion 6 SUV will not trigger a major backlash from the Chinese company’s growing band of existing EV owners or put off potential EV buyers. We have never positioned ourselves as EV only.

A survey commissioned by the electric vehicle maker Polestar has found 34 per cent of Australian drivers support a ban on petrol and diesel cars by 2030. Polestar boss Thomas Ingenlath with the Precept concept, which is heading for production as the Polestar 5. Push that deadline out to 2035 and the figure climbs to 48 per cent.

Hearts and minds But he admits that lack of awareness is not the only thing preventing a sceptical public from seeing EVs as a feasible alternative to the petrol and diesel cars they know and love. just the smart chargers and a website for the internal communication is enough, to minimize battery cost of ownership.
