Speaking of price points, this is not a cheap car. A 20-inch-wheel kit replaced the 19s and cost $3,200. Fuel economy is listed at 23 mpg city/30 mpg highway/26 mpg combined. What they do offer is solid utility for the moneyed person who is often carrying passengers and/or cargo about town. Handsome in a plain way.

I spend most of the day driving in GT mode so the economy’s not falling. If you want to keep the tyre mobility kit and power cable bags in the boot, this also eats into space. I bet the brakes would take a pasting, and those 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4s aren’t going to be cheap to replace after a few track sessions.

So, the used batteries are almost arbitrarily cheap since an arbitrarily large fraction of their cost of production can be loaded on their use in transportation. Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Batteries are highly special toxic waste and cannot be dropped on the average dump site, so who is going to pay to get rid of this problem?
