Once again, a conference on plug-in cars. The conference attendees heard the now familiar if increasingly impassioned representatives of the utility industry trumpet the benefits of electricity for transportation. Representatives of GM stoked the clamor for the Volt, and a Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid sat on the show floor.

The conference was sold out; it was also essentially a PowerPoint-free zone; the basic format relied heavily on brief introductory remarks from sets of speakers representing the diverse stakeholders, followed by questions from attendees. BYD’s conventional gas-powered cars are selling well these days in China, and his electric plug-in electric model looks like it will come to market with a longer range and a lower sticker price than the new Toyota Prius much-hyped Chevy Volt. Li Lu has agreed to come to FORTUNE’s Brainstorm Green conference next week to talk about BYD.
