San José International deploys 10 Proterra electric buses in airport fleet

The buses and charging systems were designed and manufactured locally by Proterra, based in Burlingame, Calif. Funded in part by a $5-million zero-emissions grant from the Federal Aviation Administration, the electric buses replace the aging compressed natural gas bus fleet that has been operating at SJC since 2008.

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. The project will include 27 alternative fuel stations (16 CNG, 7 B20/E85, one B20, three Electric Charging) and deploy 373 alternative fuel and advance technology vehicles (235 CNG, 58 HEV, two LPG, two EV).

USDOT awarding $55M to support purchase of Low-No buses; electric buses and infrastructure

The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced $55 million in grant selections through the Low or No Emission (Low-No) Vehicle program, which funds the development of transit buses and infrastructure that use advanced fuel technologies.
