The Electric Car Corporation Plc (ECC) today announced the launch of the UK’s first 4 seater, ‘all electric’ production car. This is further supported by the London Mayor, Boris Johnson, who has announced his plan to introduce 25,000 ‘juice points’ (charging stations), for electric cars throughout the city.

This requires the high-voltage batteries to be sufficiently charged. This high-voltage battery pack comes in addition to the standard 12V battery under the bonnet, which carries on performing its normal duties. In this case, activation of the HDi diesel engine is programmed to coincide with more sustained phases of acceleration.
