In recent weeks, news stories have broken about a Ferrari hybrid supercar in development as well as the launch of the McLaren P11 Supercar, which features a diesel V8 engine and regenerative braking. So, in effect, this is a supercar capable of around 200mph and yet it has very clean emissions.

In the UK, the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) and the Energy Saving Trust (EST), together with industry stakeholders, have launched the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme ( CVRAS ). The UK’s DEFRA/DfT Joint Air Quality Unit (JAQU) is providing funding support. —LowCVP’s Managing Director, Andy Eastlake.
