The idea of self-sufficient cities is gaining currency in the European Union, which has set itself the ambitious task of cutting carbon dioxide (CO{-2}) emissions to one-fifth below 1990 levels by 2020 ? This may be the lowest cost energy storage solution just because we are going to make the batteries anyway. Well and good.
