Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. The easiest conversions are for 2004-2008 Prius (not 2001-2003 Prius) and the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrid. Both Toyota and Ford are now producing a few prototype conversions of their own Priuses and Escapes for research purposes.)

Ford Escape PHEV-40 around 2012. Small long-term evaluation program, including modeling of vehicle-to-grid building benefits and economics, begun with Southern California Edison, joined by EPRI, other utilities, US DOE. Mazda Ford Partner was reported to be developing Series PHEV based on Mazda 5 MPV platform.

If the EV1 was viable (or even close) we would see Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc all with 80 mile cars right now.do If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Additionally, I had a close frind out in California that just about creamed in his pants when he was able to lease one.
