General Motors ( NYSE: GM ) is gearing up for a major shift in 2022 thanks to its evolving electric vehicle program, planning for record profit levels that could surge the company into a more well-rounded placement in an increasingly competitive sector. GM plans to launch deliveries of the Cadillac LYRIQ in “less than 60 days.”

Taylor is not new to working for Chinese companies. This may be a tricky relationship given that Taylor is completely re-doing Seres’ U.S. I guess John Zhang is in charge of the brand in China? Taylor was also with GM’s Cadillac brand for more than 10 years, including as general manager and chief marketing officer.

The morning session started out with an hour long press conference, the highlight being the unveiling of the Volt’s 230 mpg preliminary EPA city fuel economy finding ( earlier post ), as well as a tour showing selected elements from the studios of the four GM North American brands: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac. Build better products.

Its dive into the financial doldrums was short-lived however, and on July 10, 2009, the company bounced back with the formation of a new, downsized GM (see article ). The company was created from the old GM’s strongest operations and was reborn with a clear focus on building better and more environmentally friendly vehicles.
