Ford Motor Company announced that its Kansas City Assembly Plant will build the all-new E-Transit van, part of a more than $3.2 billion investment in Ford’s North American manufacturing facilities to produce a series of new electric vehicles for commercial and retail customers. This will retain 225 jobs at the plant.

Kansas City International Airport and BYD, North America’s largest electric bus manufacturer, announced delivery of the airport’s four battery-electric 30-ft. BYD customized the buses for Kansas City Airport to include luggage racks for passenger use. Kansas City Council approved the order of four 30 ft.

As part of the earliest stages of the delivery vehicle replacement plan, a contract for 9,250 commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) internal combustion engine vehicles will also be concurrently awarded to fill the urgent need for vehicles. The Ford E-Transit BEVs are manufactured in Kansas City, Missouri.

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation ( SEV US ) has selected Kansas City as the site for its US assembly plant.
