As for estimating the average daily energy consumption, a typical value for us spoiled Americans is going to be in the range of 10-25 kWh per day for the first person in the house, and around another 2-5 kWh per day for each additional person.

Smart Mobility builds upon Ford’s Blueprint for Mobility ( earlier post ). Ford engineers are working with HP to track the driving habits of 100 vehicles used nationwide by HP employees for work and personal commuting. This experiment studies a driver’s behavior over time in order to build a more personalized mobility profile.

Better Place is building stations in San Francisco, Hawaii, Israel, and Denmark to swap out 1,000 pound batteries in a car wash type set up. The Renault-Nissan Alliance is building fleet charging stations in Portland and Phoenix. I am more reminded of Segway, or that GM thing that Segway helped them build.

In a flurry of electric vehicle activity, three back-to-back announcements this week have placed a spotlight on Oregon’s plans to be the friendliest state in the nation in which to build, sell and buy electric cars. But most could build it for under $1k and mine gets the equivalent of 600mpg fuel cost wise.
