Meanwhile, Cadillac sales have been dipping -- except for the Lyriq EV, which had a rough start last year but has sold much better through the first quarter this year. Looking at the sales declines, the problem might not be powertrains. Consumer preference for ICE vehicles or hybrid/PHEVs appears to be another.

Since then, I discovered this April 1957 edition of The Cadillac Serviceman , GM’s in-house magazine publication for its dealer service centers. No longer, customers preferred the hardtop coupe!

Buick has strengthened its commitment to electrification in China with the launch of the VELITE 7 electric vehicle and VELITE 6 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The slow roll-out for eager consumers follows the Silverado EV WT work truck version that went on-sale in September 2023. While the Silverado EV comes standard with all-wheel drive, it is not designed for going off-road. Expect there to be more battery electric Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles announced in the coming months.
