Buick sales rose 90.6% The launch of the Excelle XT coupe-like sedan further strengthened Buick’s momentum. Sales were up 97.0% to 46,853 units.

General Motors’ vehicle sales in China rose 28.8% It captured about 40% of China’s mini-commercial vehicle segment. GM’s light-duty commercial vehicle joint venture, FAW-GM, sold 88,224 trucks in China in its first full year of doing business. Buick sales rose 23.0% to a record 2,351,610 units in 2010.

General Motors China and its joint ventures sold 814,442 vehicles in China in the first half of 2009. GM China’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture once again registered record sales for its mini-commercial vehicles. Its Wuling Sunshine minivan was China’s most popular vehicle, with sales of 295,789 units in the first half.

Tesla Motors announced that in recent US-NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) testing, the Model S earned an overall 5-star safety rating from NHTSA as well as 5 stars in each component test. While the Model S is a sedan, it also exceeded the safety score of all SUVs and minivans, according to Tesla. Source: Tesla Motors.
